We all understand that having financial security is essential to living a healthy life. It is for this reason that it is so easy to be discouraged from chasing our dreams. You might be a really talented artist but meeting your financial needs could seem so daunting that you give up on your dream career and settle for a more realistic one. Although this is a financially responsible decision, you do not have to abandon your creativity as a whole. When you notice that your passion for art stems from your innate creativity you are able to explore other careers where creativity is a prerequisite, but that are financially more viable than being a struggling artist.
In order to help you explore the characteristics and talents that you have that you might not be aware of, we at Yong have created this fun visualisation exercise for you to try.
Find a comfortable place where you can relax. Sit with your spine straight but your body relaxed. Close your eyes and reflect on the following questions.
Think back to when you were a child, what did you like to do when you were younger? Really take your time to think about the activities you were interested in that really brought you a sense of joy as a child and throughout your teenage years. Pay attention to the details of these memories, did you do these activities alone or were there people with you? What did you need in order to do these activities? What was it about the activities that gave you so much happiness?
Think back to your time in school, were you selected for something in school? Why were you chosen? How did this make you feel? How did you perform in the position you were selected for?
Lastly, we want you to think about times that people told you that you were good at something, this could be as small as someone commenting on your style, your ability to help others with homework, or how you are with animals. Really spend some time on this and carefully consider all the actions you have ever been complimented on.
Now as you open your eyes, what new insights into your own talents, abilities and characteristics do you have? Write these down and reflect on them. If you enjoyed this exercise, you would enjoy our courses even more. Sign up on our platform, Yong.
